1. The best thing is exercise
Exercising is the best thing you can do to feel fit, healthy, and happy. There is really no substitute for it. It has been shown by research that exercise can give your mood a boost, increase your self-esteem, and help you sleep better. Release of endorphins inside of your body, while you are working out, is partially responsible for this. Endorphins increase our sense of pleasure and happiness and reduce our feelings of pain.If you would like to give your mood a boost, then increase your exercise. You don't have to work out for 60 minutes or nothing at all. Working out for 10 minutes is exercise still. Just get started.
2. Eat healthy food
Your gut makes ninety percent of your serotonin. The chemical serotonin makes you happy. This means, whatever you put inside of your body can have an impact on your mood. Try your best to avoid consuming carb diets, high sugar, processed foods, and too many antibiotics. Healthy habits like doing yoga, taking walks, getting rid of negative self-talk, and avoiding "toxic" people, all help to reduce stress.
3. Find real peace of mind
So can you find real peace of mind? Make a list of all of your values and then determine whether or not you are actually living according to them. Do you worry about the small things in your life? Are your schedule and your kids' schedules jam-packed? Review your daily worries and look to see if there are a couple of things that can be cut out. This will free up your time and give you more peace of mind.
4. Don't compare yourself with others
One really good way to feel healthy is staying in tune with your body and what it needs. When you compare yourself with other people, you end up focusing your energy and time on trying to be someone that your mind and body might not want you to be. When you compare yourself with others it gives you a very skewed and unrealistic perception of reality. That can reduce your confidence level and could even result in you developing depressive symptoms. Work instead on increasing your self-awareness. Reflect on your current life situation, your goals, and your values and start to create a realistic plan to help you get where you want to go.
5. Dress up your mood
There are of course going to be days when you want to relax and hang out in your sweats or yoga pants. I think that is something you should do. However, don't allow that style of dress be the only one you have. I know the daily routine can get boring but dress up anyway.
Twice a week at least, wear something that will make you feel handsome or pretty. How you dress and feel in your skin impacts your attitude and self-confidence. There is nothing like a nice suit, great hair day, or a brand new dress to give your spirits a lift.
